How do we grow our citizens’ collective and individual prosperity, whilst dealing with our challenging history and current reality?

Every Country Has Their ’Thing’. The United States of America is known for being the land of opportunity. Egypt is known for its colossal and inexplicable monuments. China is known for its aggressive and remarkable growth. South Africa…well, we are known for our racial inequality. Everything in this country has a racial undertone. The dominant political parties are underpinned by their approach to addressing the effects of racial inequality. Our land use plans reek of segregation and our infrastructure responds accordingly. Our crime statistics are reflective of a racial divide. Conceding that this is our reality, our stated intent is the de-racialisation of the economy. How far are we from this desired future reality?
